Thunderstorm Chances…

By Todd Gutner WBZ-TV

Thunderstorm chances will be running fairly high this afternoon and we will have to keep an eye on the radar…storms that form will have heavy rain, lightning, gusty wind and possible hail.  Temperatures have been held down limiting the storm threat most of the morning but breaks in those clouds are now occurring and temps will start rising to around 80 during the afternoon.  This will aid in storm development but the main piece to the puzzle is a backdoor cold front that will slide south from Maine late this afternoon.  The lift associated with it should be enough of a trigger for at least a broken line of convection to form after 4PM this afternoon…the line will then progress south and fall apart during the late evening.

Hi-Resolution models are predicting a line of storms to form north of Boston around 4PM and slide south through the city around 6PM this evening.
