Daily Talker: Flying Car Or Driverless Car?
A company in Woburn hopes to have the first flying car in production -- if it can get millions of dollars in funding.
The Boston Business Journal reports Terrafugia has been testing it's vehicle called Transition, which can fly at speeds of up to 100 miles an hour, and can reach altitudes of 10,000 feet. It's scheduled to be released in mid-2016.
Terrafugia CEO Carl Deitrich tells the BBJ their target customer is retired or semi-retired. "Many were promised a flying car when they were younger and now they can get one," he said.
100 customers have already placed pre-orders, with a $279,000 price tag per vehicle. The company is hoping to raise $30 million to fund production.
This comes as Google continues work on its driverless cars, which don't even include a steering wheel.
