Body Found At Cape Beach Was Missing Head And Limbs

BARNSTABLE (CBS) – A body found Wednesday night on Town Neck Road Beach in Sandwich was missing the head, both arms and both legs, according to authorities.

Cape & Island District Attorney Michael O'Keefe said the body was that of a black man, 6-foot to 6-foot-2, 220-230 pounds with a surgical scar on the abdomen.

The body was found wrapped in a tarp and attached to a moving dolly and was clad in black sweat-type pants and a blue t-shirt with the company name Cranston Windustrial on the back.

A manager, who did not want to give her name, tells WBZ no workers from Cranston Windustrial in Rhode Island are missing. The company gives the t-shirts out to vendors who distribute them to customers around New England.

Police have been in contact with the company, which makes industrial fire suppression systems, yesterday. The DA said the company had been cooperative and company representatives told state police they estimated the shirt on the body was made six to eight years ago.

The body was taken to the state Medical Examiner's office.

Officials are asking the public to contact them if they recognize the t-shirt that was on the victim or know a person matching the victim's physical description or wearing similar clothes.

O'Keefe said the beach was a "secondary crime scene" and the victim had apparently been killed elsewhere before being dumped at the beach fairly recently.

"The investigation hasn't identified any public safety concerns for those living in or visiting the Town Neck area," Sandwich police Chief Peter Wack said.
