School Bus Crashes Into Newton House

NEWTON (CBS) - A school bus crashed into a home in Newton Tuesday morning.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. on Dedham Street near Meadowbrook Road.

The bus ran up on a sidewalk, went through a fence and stone wall before hitting the corner of the home at the entrance of the Charles River Country Club.

There were no students on the bus and the country club employee who lives in the house was not home at the time of the crash.

No one was hurt.

It's still not clear yet what caused the crash.

The driver had just dropped off students at the Brown Middle School shortly before his bus collided with a sedan and then into the home.

The driver of the sedan, a 34-year-old woman from Brockton, was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

A relative told WBZ-TV she was "just driving into work when the bus hit her."

The bus driver, Alfred Covil, told WBZ the other driver should have stopped to yield and he "tried to avoid hitting her."
