Gradual Improvement Saturday

We've been waiting for this for a while haven't we?  Summertime temps arrive to southern New England this weekend, just in time for Mother's Day!  The surge of warmth comes at a cost…showers, downpours, clouds and fog this morning.  Don't worry – gradually, breaks of sunshine will emerge and temperatures will rise into the 70s by this afternoon.  While there will be plenty of dry periods later today, an approaching cold front will spark some pop-up thunderstorms anytime from mid-afternoon into the evening.  I'm not expecting any severe storms, but any cells that do develop could contain heavy downpours and lightning.  If you're outdoors today, have a  backup plan in mind should a storm head your way.

Tonight, a lingering shower or storm swings through and then skies clear.  Tomorrow will be absolutely gorgeous for Mom's; sunny, breezy and warm with highs 75-80 (around 70 on Cape Cod).

Monday will feature highs around 80 once again before BIG changes after that.  We'll be monitoring a backdoor cold front, which could impact the North Shore/Cape Ann as early as Monday evening.  What does that mean for us?  Sharply cooler air with an onshore flow.  Temperatures will drop through the 60s & 50s…and stay there on Tuesday.

So enjoy this warmth while it lasts!
