Teen Injured In Hit & Run Crash In Needham

NEEDHAM (CBS) - A teenager who was out jogging in Needham Saturday afternoon was injured by a hit and run driver.

Kailey Wasserman, 17, was hit at the intersection of High Rock Street and Marked Tree Road at about 3:15 p.m.

"You know I don't know who can leave a 17-year-old girl bleeding on the side of the street," Wasserman said. "I hit my face against the pavement."

She suffered cuts on her chin, a painful elbow injury and she lost two teeth and chipped another.

Wasserman says the driver went through a stop sign.

Witnesses describe the vehicle that hit Wasserman as a white newer model Toyota Camry, possibly with a Rhode Island registration. The vehicle reportedly fled eastbound on High Rock Street.

Kailey's father said the driver is a coward. "They were either drunk or texting or doing whatever they were doing," Kenneth Wasserman said. "But face up, pull over. They took off, and they could have killed her."

Wasserman was treated by oral surgeons at Tufts Medical Center and released Saturday night.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Needham Police Department at 781-444-1212.
