Last Weekend of April? Hit the Slopes

The weather down here in southern New England this weekend? Not great. Chilly, areas of rain to deal with, not a whole lot of sun. So why not make the most of it and head a little to the north? Believe it or not, there are still several ski areas open for business, refusing to quit after a cold and snowy winter left them endowed with deep bases and wide smiles. Here's a look at some of the chatter going on in the ski/snowboard community as the season slowly comes to an end.

In fact, there could be a little extra snow coming on down this weekend. A pocket of very cold air will be rotating down from SE Canada on Saturday, and should have enough instability with it to touch off snow showers for the higher terrain. We're not talking about too much, but hey it's late April. If you're a snow lover, you'll take anything you can get!

Above is the NAM, but all models have been hinting at some higher elevation snow in New England late Saturday into early Sunday morning. The air aloft will definitely be cold enough, it's just a matter of squeezing out the moisture. Daytime highs will stay in the 40s on Sunday for most of these locations, with some 30s for the peaks. Enjoy!
