SI's 'Boston Strong' Edition Hits Newsstands

BOSTON (CBS) - Some 3,000 Bostonians are gracing the cover of the newest Sports Illustrated magazine issue.

The issue, which marks the one year anniversary of the marathon bombings, hit news stands on Wednesday, the day after the anniversary.

The huge crowd on the cover turned out at the Boston Marathon finish line on Saturday morning to take part in the photo shoot after Sports Illustrated put out a public invitation.

According to Sports Illustrated, the magazine issue includes a piece that focuses on the marathon and examines the lives of more than 15 people who were affected by the bombing.

The magazine is also featuring a piece written by David Ortiz. It details how proud he is of the city and its recovery from the attacks.

A year ago, Sports Illustrated used the iconic image of three police officers and a runner who had been knocked to the ground.
