Medford To Build $1 Million Peace Garden To Honor Marathon Bombing Victims
MEDFORD (CBS) - Mayor Michael McGlynn announced plans Friday to build a $1 million peace garden in memory of Medford native Krystle Campbell and the others killed in the Boston Marathon bombings.
McGlynn told WBZ-TV what started as a $400,000 idea quickly bloomed into a million dollar challenge.
"It was going to be some seating area for the seniors with a plaque to the four victims. And then, as we talked about it more and more, we said, 'No, this should be a memorial'," McGlynn said.

Medford To Build Peace Garden For Bombing Victims
The peace garden will also honor the memory of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, BU student Lingzi Lu, 8-year-old Martin Richard and all the survivors of the bombings.
The entrance to the park will have sidewalks that tick off marathon mile markers from Hopkinton to the finish line.
There will also be four fountains, one honoring each victim.
Those victims will be represented on a compass pointing towards their home towns, including Campbell who lived three streets away from the peace garden's location at the Medford Senior Center.
