Duxbury Firefighters Rescue Man Pinned Under 600-Pound Tree

DUXBURY (CBS) - The Duxbury Fire Department rescued a man pinned underneath a 600-pound tree on Friday.

Firefighters said the man's friend called 911. The two were cutting down a tree at a home on Temple Street, it got stuck in vines and then fell on the man in his 50's.

First responders said when they first arrived they couldn't even see the man, but they could hear him yelling, "Help me."

Firefighters said it was too dangerous to cut the tree because they were afraid it would roll back on the man.

They used inflatable air bags to lift the tree and then propped up it up in different spots. After thirty minutes, crews were able to slide the man out from under the tree.

Medics rushed him to a waiting medical helicopter and he was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in stable condition.
