Daily Talker: North End Man Wants Apology After Sexual Assault Charges Dropped

A North End man is asking for an apology after he was cleared in the sexual assault of a woman in February.

The Suffolk County District Attorney threw out the case after it received evidence that didn't support the charges against 26-year-old Ross Currier.

"It's nice to hear the charges are dismissed, but the manner in which they were dismissed is unacceptable. I'm an innocent person, my record should reflect that," Currier said. "I certainly feel someone needs to step forward and take responsibility for what happened here. The lack of due diligence by the police and everyone along the way, this could have been prevented. The fact no one has come forward to admit their mistakes is alarming."

Boston Police arrested Currier after the victim in the February 15 assault told police that she saw her assailant playing basketball. Currier gave police an alibi, and in court prosecutors provided an information from police that the victim had also identified another person in a photo lineup who was incarcerated at the time of the assault. Prosecutors asked that he wear a GPS device instead of asking for bail while the case was investigated.

Currier is not ruling out legal action against the city. Boston Police declined to comment on his demand for an apology.
