MIT Fraternity To Host 'Nearly Naked' Run In Memory Of Sean Collier

BOSTON (CBS) -- MIT fraternity brothers are stripping down for charity.

The Kappa Sigma chapter will host a Nearly Naked Nearly Mile to raise money in honor of the school's fallen police officer Sean Collier, who was shot and killed nearly a year ago. Collier's death sparked the hunt for the marathon bombing suspects.

The participating runners will strip their clothes, place them in a donation bin for the American Red Cross, and run through MIT's campus.  The race will be held on April 19 at 5 p.m.

Local Cambridge restaurants are joining in on the fun and donating food and drinks to the event.

The hosts of the Nearly Naked Nearly Mile are fundraising for the Officer Sean Collier Self Sponsor Scholarship. The scholarship will send one self-sponsored recruit through the Lowell Police Academy each year. Team Collier Strong, a team running the 2014 Boston Marathon in honor of Collier, is raising money for the same scholarship fund.
