Reality TV Star's Nephew Denied Bail In Duxbury Shooting

PLYMOUTH (AP) — A nephew charged with shooting hip-hop artist and reality TV star Benzino at a funeral procession in Massachusetts has been denied bail.

A judge Wednesday ordered 36-year-old Gai Scott to remain in custody. The Randolph man pleaded not guilty Monday to armed assault with intent to murder. His lawyer says he acted in self-defense and cooperated with police.

Authorities say Scott shot 48-year-old Raymond Scott, known as Benzino, on Saturday as Benzino came upon his mother's funeral procession in Duxbury. Benzino said he avoided the funeral because of family tensions over money. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A prosecutor said the nephew endangered people and police have no evidence Benzino was armed.

Benzino appears on VH1's reality show "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta" and is CEO of Hip-Hop Weekly.
