Split Weekend

If you like the mild air, then today's your day.  Temperatures will manage to rise into the low to mid 50s as sunshine breaks out this afternoon.  We have to get through a round of rain showers first, which will end by late morning….then renewed showers this afternoon ahead of a cold front.  Scattered activity that develops later on this afternoon won't ruin your day, but I think it is worth having the umbrella on stand by.

The feel of winter returns tomorrow as cold air streams right back into southern New England. Despite a good amount of sunshine, temperatures will only rise into the lower 30s, and the northwest wind gusting at times to 35 mph will add a significant chill to the air.  In fact, the feels like forecast for midday tomorrow is only around 20 – so make sure to be bundled up if you're headed out to any St. Patrick's Day festivities.

High pressure is going to nose its way into the northeast on Monday, suppressing moisture from a storm to our south.  The northern fringe of precipitation may come just close enough to graze the immediate south coast with a bit of light snow early Monday – but for now, it's mostly a miss with the bigger story being the cold.  Highs won't get out of the upper 20s on Monday.

A gradual moderation in temperatures is expected through the end of the week though as we'll return to seasonable levels by Thursday.
