ALBANY, N.H. (AP) — A Massachusetts man has died while cross-country skiing on a trail off the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire's Fish and Game Department said 67-year-old Ralph Cronin Sr. of Lynn, Mass., died at about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers said Cronin was with his wife, Linda, on the Oliverian Brook Trail off the highway in Albany in the White Mountains National Forest. He died about a half-mile from the trailhead.

Officers said there is no cellphone reception in the area, but a call for help was placed at about 2 p.m. Monday.

Personnel from the Conway and Center Conway fire and rescue services, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Forest Service responded to the scene.
