Man Charged With Stabbing Mother In Westboro Home

WESTBORO (CBS) - A man "covered in blood" was arrested Thursday night and charged with trying to kill his mother, Westboro police said Friday.

Officers were called to a home on Haskell Street just before 10 p.m. and found a 72-year-old woman who had been stabbed several times.

"She was covered in blood with stab wounds to her head and torso and injuries to her facial area and left wrist," police said in a statement.

She told police her son attacked her.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was rushed to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with life-threatening injuries.

A short time later, a Mass DOT worker told a fire captain he saw a man "covered in blood" walking on East Main Street, about a half-mile from the home.

Officers found 44-year-old Daneil Uhlman and arrested him.

He's charged with assault with to intent to murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and mayhem.

He was held overnight on $5,000 bail and will be arraigned in Westboro District Court Friday.
