It is no coincidence that the two new routes start on the same day. Emirates and JetBlue have a code-sharing agreement. This agreement allows for ticketing on both airlines.
Emirates is one of the fastest growing and well respected airlines in the world. The Boston non-stop daily flights will go to Dubai where the airline has service to 135 destinations.
The flights will be on Boeing 777 aircraft configured with eight first-class seats, 42 seats in business class and 216 in economy. The flight leaves Logan at 11:38 p.m. from Terminal E at Logan.
Emirates was the 2013 “Airline of t he Year” by Skytrax World Airline Awards. Thier flights also feature up to 1,600 entertainment channels and complimentary full course meals at every seat.
Following successful launches of flights to Japan and Panama City in the last two years, Logan will add flights on Turkish Airlines to Turkey and Hainan Airlines to China this spring and summer.
First-class and business class passengers in Boston will be picked up by private car service within 60 miles of Logan. Emirates also offers free checked bag allowances with restrictions.
Emirates threw a major reception last Monday at the Revere Hotel for 300 corporate travel managers, travel agents and airport officials to introduce its airline to the city.
JetBlue is celebrating its 10th anniversary serving Boston this year and in that time it has become the number one carrier at Logan Airport. With more than 100 flights a day, JetBlue accounts for about 28 percent of passengers flying to and from Logan. That number totaled more than eight million people coming in and out of Terminal C.
JetBlue has added flights to cities that attract business travelers including its new flights to Detroit as well as Dallas, Houston and Washington D.C. The airline was recently awarded new gates at Reagan Airport.
JetBlue CEO Dave Barger was scheduled to host a media luncheon in Boston Monday to discuss the growth of the airline in New England. Late last year, they added flights to Florida from the Worcester Airport.
