BOSTON (CBS) – The first sign of spring is just around the corner.
Well, spring training at least.
For the Boston Red Sox, Saturday is “Truck Day,” the day the team loads up their equipment, and just about anything else they can think of, to send off to Lee County, Florida.

Bats, Gloves, Balls. You name it. A few years ago, a tricycle even made the trip. Whatever the team decides to bring, it will all be loaded on an 18-wheeler and begin its 1,480-mile trip to the club’s Spring Training home in Lee County.
While some players are already down at the complex, pitcher and catchers are due to report on February 15. They will have their first workout two days later. Position players must report by February 18, and the team will have their first full-squad workout on February 20.

The Red Sox will begin playing spring games with their annual college double-header against Northeastern and Boston College on February 27 at JetBlue Park.
The Red Sox open the regular season on March 31 in Baltimore, and get their World Series rings on April 4 when they open at Fenway Park against the Milwaukee Brewers.
