BOSTON (CBS) – This morning’s “Celtics @ 7″ featured a special guest, 98.5 The Sports Hub basketball analyst Cedric Maxwell.

Host Adam Kaufman opened the show with a review of Rajon Rondo’s first week, and asked if the C’s can build around their young captain in the wake of president of basketball operations Danny Ainge revealing he and the point guard have discussed an extension. Rondo’s enjoyed a slow return to full health, as expected, and it would be in his best financial interests to wait to commit to a long-term future in Boston.

Max weighed in on the topic in the second segment, and also addressed the recent injuries to Jared Sullinger and Avery Bradley. Max spent some time dissecting the Celts’ rebuild and the upcoming NBA draft, as well as Sunday’s reunion with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett at the Garden.

Kaufman wrapped up the show with memories of Pierce and Garnett from their time in Boston, along with some of the early struggles they’ve endured in Brooklyn before their recent surge.
