Wednesday's Child: 14-Year-Old Chris

BOSTON (CBS) — Christopher or Chris, as he likes to be called, is a creative, active 14-year-old boy of Caucasian/Hispanic descent. He is open to trying new activities and recently tried cross-country skiing. Chris had a great time learning and was a natural athlete.

Chris is currently living in a group home, but he really wants to be part of a family. He still has contact and periodic visits with his birth mother and grandmother and would like a family that will support this arrangement.

Chris is expressive and has an excellent singing voice. In the past, he has performed in school plays. Additionally, Chris enjoys listening to music, dancing and getting outdoors to fish. He is not sure what he'd like to do when he grows up, but his ambition is to go to college. At this time, Chris has the support of an Individualized Education Plan to help him meet his academic goals around writing and math.

Chris is legally free for adoption and would do well with a single or two-parent family. He gets along well with children of any age. Chris is an animal lover and would especially like a family with pets. In Chris' words, "animals have helped me through some hard times."

To learn more about Chris, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
