BOSTON (CBS) – There’s a growing friendly rivalry between Boston and Denver that, while often associated with watching football, has nothing to do with the game itself.

Two of the best cities in the country for craft beer are having some fun with the competition.

Earlier this week, Framingham-based Jacks Abby Brewing put out a call to some Denver-area breweries, and Left Hand Brewing Company answered that call.

After some back and forth, the two breweries agreed to a deal that will force the losing team’s area brewery to wash the other brewery’s official vehicle. Jack’s Abby offered up its delivery truck, and Left Hand put up its limo.

One idea that was explored by the breweries, but nixed because of legal issues, was letting the winning team’s area brewery rename one of the loser’s taproom beers for a full month. The most popular suggestion was “Manning Face,” a sour beer that “would be great refreshment after a Pats win,” according to Mike Morse, who offered up the name.

Speaking of Manning Face, a Rhode Island distillery is sending a gift to the Broncos QB to dull the pain. Sons of Liberty Spirits is sending a clever note with a bottle of its whiskey to Peyton.

“Just in case you need something a little stronger than light beer after your AFC Championship game against the Patriots,” the note says, alluding to a comment Manning made in a post game press conference last week.

“What’s weighing on my mind is how soon I can get a Bud Light in my mouth after this win,” he told reporters who asked about his football future.

Here’s hoping he needs something stronger.

Finally, Craft Beer Cellars in Belmont is offering up something for fans of both teams. The retailer has put together a combination case that includes 12 Boston-area beers and 12 Colorado beers.
