Chocolate Over Chowder? Residents React To Mayor Walsh's Football Bet

BOSTON (CBS) - Newly-elected Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is already shaking things up.

On Thursday, Walsh surprised a lot of people when he included chocolate turtles from Phillips Candy House in Dorchester in place of the traditional New England clam chowder.

When WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reported the details on Twitter, there were a number of responses asking, "What about chowder?

"It could be the new chowder," candy house customer Curtis Jackson told Stevens. "Every time I give a gift, this is the first place I come to purchase a gift for someone. And everyone loves them."

Customers at the Dorchester candy store seemed thrilled that Walsh included the candy shop.

"I think this is the best way to go. This is an excellent way to go. There's no other way," one customer said.
