FALMOUTH (CBS) -- A body that washed ashore in the Woods Hole neighborhood of Falmouth has been identified as a missing Marion hunter, according to the police.

At about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, an officer from the Massachusetts Environmental Police notified the Falmouth Police Department that a person had washed ashore in Woods Hole. Falmouth officers and the Falmouth Fire & Rescue Department were dispatched to the scene and confirmed the presence of a body, the police reported in a prepared statement.

The body was identified as 21-year-old Dana Dourdeville of Marion, the Fairhaven Police announced in a prepared statement.  He was found by a volunteer civilian search party between the Cape Cod Canal and Woods Hole in the area of Penzance Point, the Fairhaven Polce said.

The Brown University student had been missing since New Year's Eve, when he went duck hunting. His kayak was found off West Island in Fairhaven.

There was no evidence of trauma, and an autopsy will be conducted by the Massachusetts State Medical Examiner, the Fairhaven Police said.
