U.S. News And World Report Lists Best Diets For 2014

BOSTON (CBS) – It’s that time of year again, when many are looking to drop some of those extra pounds from the holidays, and now we’re getting a look at the best diets for 2014- according to U.S. News and World Report.

The DASH Diet was named the best diet overall. It stresses healthy eating including more fruits, vegetables and whole grains – while taking in less salt.┬áThe DASH Diet was developed by the national heart, lung and blood institute.

Weight Watchers was named the best weight loss diet. It assigns points to foods based on a complicated algorithm – allowing for three meals a day and two snacks.
