DOUGLAS (CBS) — A driver is recovering after crashing his car into the Whitin Reservoir in Douglas, Sunday night.
The car landed upside down in the water.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Kim Tunnicliffe reports
The man still had his seat belt on but managed to somehow get the passenger door open and swim to safety.
He then walked about half a mile for help while suffering from hypothermia and several cuts.
The car later sank.
“Obviously he kept his head somewhat clear and made some very deliberate actions that resulted in surviving this,” Fire Chief Ken Vincent said.
The man is being treated for hypothermia and lacerations at UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
