BOSTON (CBS) – Niklas Svedberg made 33 saves in his NHL debut tonight at the TD Garden and Brad Marchand scored 54 seconds into the overtime period to help give the Boston Bruins a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators.
The win ended a two-game slide the team was on to close out 2013, but it looks like they’re back on track to right the ship in the new year.
Down 1-0 in the third, goals by Johnny Boychuk (04:55) and Jarome Iginla (12:29) put the B’s up 2-1 in the latter part of the period. However, a Shea Weber slapshot evened the score and forced the overtime at 14:35.
Assisted by Patrice Bergeron and Dougie Hamilton, Marchand was able to deliver the OT heroics for his tenth goal of the season and earned himself the game’s first star.
