New Year’s Baby Race In Boston Ends In A Tie

BOSTON (CBS/AP) — The race to have the first baby born in Boston in 2014 apparently ended in a tie.

Boston Medical Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital both reported births at 12:02 a.m. on Wednesday.

Boston Medical says a boy, Belanov Ryan William Bercier, was born to Wildaline Morisset, weighing in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces.

At the same time, Mia Carolina Espinoza Rodriguez was arriving at Brigham and Women’s Hospital weighting 9 pounds, 12 ounces.

The hospital says she was greeted by mother Diana, father Christian and big brother Christian, who is 3 years old.

Brigham and Women’s officials say they delivered five babies in the first hour of 2014.
