Dracut Baby Arrives In First Minute Of 2014

LOWELL (CBS) -- Dracut couple Jennifer and Carl Tancredi were expecting to have a New Year's Eve baby when they showed up to Lowell General Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. Instead, Dante Joseph Tancredi arrived at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, making him one of the first babies born in Massachusetts in 2014.

"At about 5 until midnight, the nurse asks (Jennifer) to push, and I said, 'Well, why don't we wait until after midnight, so I can get my midnight kiss and then we'll push.' So, at 12 o'clock the ball dropped and we had our little smooch," the proud father said. "Then, three pushes later here was Dante."

Dante arrived weighing 8 pounds 4 ounces.

"Anytime you bring a new life into the world, it's just amazing," Jennifer Tancredi said. "So, knowing there's a little added extra excitement, it just makes the moment a little more special."

Dante has an older sister who's anxious to meet him. Jennifer Tancredi gave birth to her baby girl, Marianna, just 16 months ago.

Marianna won't have trouble sharing the spotlight, he mother said: "She's already a star, so I think she'll be okay. Maybe they'll both be on TV someday."
