RI Man Extradited To Mass. Over 2012 Murder In Swansea
FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — A 54-year-old Rhode Island man charged with the murder of his girlfriend faces a court appearance in Massachusetts.
The Bristol District Attorney's office says David Sousa will be arraigned Tuesday in Fall River Superior Court. He was returned to Massachusetts on Monday after being held in Rhode Island since October on a probation violation.
The Warren, R.I., man was indicted on a murder charge in the strangling of 52-year-old Lisa Mello in her Swansea home.
Prosecutors said Sousa was Mello's boyfriend around the time of her death in November 2012.
It was not immediately known if Sousa had a lawyer.
