Report: Patriots Grant Permission To Browns To Interview Josh McDaniels

BOSTON (CBS) — The Patriots have granted permission to the Cleveland Browns to interview Josh McDaniels for the team’s vacant head coaching job, according to NFL Network’s Albert Breer.

McDaniels, 37, is currently the Patriots’ offensive coordinator, but he’s reportedly high on Cleveland GM Mike Lombardi’s list to be the Browns’ next head coach. The Browns fired Rob Chudzinski on Sunday after his first season in Cleveland, when the Browns went 4-12.

McDaniels’ record as a head coach is 11-17, compiled during his season and a half in Denver from 2009-10.

The Browns’ interest in McDaniels was reported on Monday, as well as the news that the Browns plan to interview Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
