R.I. Pedestrian Run Over, Severely Injured During Dispute With Motorist

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) — Pawtucket police reported a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being run over by a car during a dispute with the driver.

Authorities said the man who was run over early Sunday morning was hospitalized and listed in critical condition Sunday. Police didn't release the names of the pedestrian and driver.

Officials said the pedestrian and driver got into an argument at about 2:30 a.m., and the pedestrian jumped on the car. The driver then sped away with the pedestrian still on the car, and the pedestrian fell off and was run over, the police said.

Authorities said the man driving the car fled but was arrested in Attleboro, Mass. He was held at the Attleboro police station but has not been charged yet, the police said.

Police said they are still investigating the incident.
