Middleboro Man Charged In Christmas Morning Stabbings

MIDDLEBORO (CBS) --- A man wanted for a Christmas morning stabbing in Middleboro was arrested Saturday night in Quincy.

John Barsell, 52, of Apartment 2, 49 North Main St., Middleboro, is being held on $50,000 bail on charges of attempted murder.

Police say Barsell stabbed two men, seriously injuring them.

Police say the stabbing took place in the hallway of a North Main Street apartment building not far from the police station. He said Barsell and the victims were arguing about beer when the fight broke out.

The two male victims went to the police station at 3 a.m. Dec. 25 and were taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Barsell was charged with two-counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held at Plymouth County jail.
