Talib, Gostkowski Voted As Pro Bowl Starters By The Fans

BOSTON (CBS) - The top 10 overall vote-getters and leading vote-getters by position for the NFL Pro Bowl were announced on Friday, and cornerback Aqib Talib and kicker Stephen Gostkowski were the only Patriots chosen as starters by the fans.

Gostkowski earned the most votes of any kicker, and Talib was second in his position group only to Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks.

It's the first Pro Bowl nomination for Gostkowski since 2008 and the first one ever of Talib's career.

UPDATE: Despite having the most votes by the fans, Stephen Gostkowski was NOT chosen to the Pro Bowl. Instead, Baltimore kicker Justin Tucker and Matt Prater of the Denver Broncos were selected.

Tom Brady garnered 702,930 votes, good for fourth place among quarterbacks behind Peyton Manning (1,432,257), Drew Brees (1,206,000) and Russell Wilson (864,686).

The rest of the 2014 Pro Bowlers will be revealed tonight.

The NFL Pro Bowl will look much different in 2014 than in years past. Taking a page from the NHL's All Star Game, the NFL has scrapped the traditional AFC vs. NFC and is moving forward with a draft system, where players will be selected regardless of conference by fans, coaches and players.

The Pro Bowl will be held the Sunday before the Super Bowl on January 26, 2014 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
