Video Roundup: Afternoon Storm Slows Commute

BOSTON (CBS) – The timing of Tuesday's storm could not have come at a worse time for commuters.

Many schools were dismissed early, and state workers were sent home, but there were still major traffic delays on highways across Massachusetts.

Tuesday's storm was the second in three days, and state officials urged commuters to hit the roads early or wait it out at work.

Crews were out early treating the roadways. "We did our best to keep the roads clear and salted before the rush began," MassDOT Highway Administrator Frank DePaola told WBZ-TV Tuesday evening.

"We did suggest people to leave earlier today before the storm intensity picked up and we're happy that many did, but apparently quite a few decided to stay the full day at work and now we're dealing with a long slow ride."
