Princeton, Mass. Dentist Indicted In 2011 Death Of His Wife

WORCESTER (CBS) - A Princeton dentist has been indicted by a grand jury in the 2011 death of his wife.

Roger Desilets Jr., 69, is charged with manslaughter and assault and battery.

His wife, Kathleen Desilets, 65, died after a fall from a third floor window.

Desilets' defense attorney Ed Ryan says his client is "terribly disappointed" by the grand jury's findings.

"We don't think by any stretch of the imagination that Dr. Desilets should have been charged with any crime, let alone manslaughter and domestic violence," Ryan said.

The couple had fought the night Kathleen died; it was an argument apparently about Roger's former infidelity.

He says she went into another bedroom and the next thing he knew, she'd thrown a chair out the window and had fallen out of it.

"Dr. Desilets has been on an emotional roller coaster," Ryan explained. "He's really not able to properly grieve his wife's death because this has been hanging over his head."

Ryan says he's ready to take this case before a jury and is confident they will find his client not guilty.

"He knows that at the end of the day he's going to be exonerated," Ryan said of Roger Desilets. "He knows in his heart and his mind that he's innocent of any criminal wrongdoing."

Desilets will be arraigned in Worcester Superior Court on January 2.
