Babysitter Accused Of Trying To Strangle 4-Year-Old Girl In Rochester, NH

ROCHESTER, NH (CBS) - A teenager who was babysitting a 4-year-old girl in Rochester, New Hampshire is accused of trying to strangle her.

Officers say they were called to Frisbee Memorial Hospital on Thursday, where the child was being treated for injuries to her eyes, neck and throat.

Police say they spoke with everyone involved, and later arrested 19-year-old Nicholas Coker of Rochester, New Hampshire.

Coker was charged with second degree assault under the strangulation portion of the statute and was held on $25,000 cash only bail.

The 4-year-old girl was held overnight at the hospital for observation.

Coker Thursday night at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Police were called to the hospital for a report of strangulation injuries to the child, according to a press release issued by Rochester police at 2:15 this morning. The 4-year-old girl was held overnight for observation with injuries to her eyes, neck and throat.

Officers at the scene spoke with all persons involved and later arrested Coker, who had been taking care of the little girl.

He was charged with second-degree assault, a felony under the strangulation portion of the statute, and was held on $25,000 cash-only bail. He is expected in court today.
