Felger & Mazz: December 4, 2013
Felger and Massarotti opened the day discussing the New York Yankees acquisition of Jacoby Ellsbury. Ellsbury signed a 7-year deal worth $153 million with the Bronx Bombers. Did the Yankees overpay for Ellsbury? Could this be a deal that the Yankees will regret?
In Hour 2, Felger and Mazz take a look at some of the worst contracts in MLB history. Where will Ellsbury’s contract rank amongst some of the worst of all time? Mike and Tony also discussed the Boston Celtics and “Tankapooloza.” The Celtics are on top of the Atlantic Division and their 8-12 record makes them a 4th seed in the Eastern Conference.
During Hour 3 of Felger and Massarotti, the guy continued to discuss Jacoby Ellsbury’s singing with the New York Yankees. What does Ellsbury’s new contract mean to a player like Jon Lester? What is Lester’s value? Also, Jarrod Saltalamacchia signed a three-year deal for $21 million with the Miami Marlins. Felger and Mazz went on to discuss New England Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard’s appearance in court tomorrow. The NFL has fined Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin $100 thousand for his sideline stunt on Thanksgiving night.
In the fourth and final hour, Felger and Mazz take calls on Jacoby Ellsbury’s signing with the Yankees. Should the Red Sox have over-paid for Ellsbury? Now that his time is up in New York with the Yankees, would the Red Sox be interested in Curtis Granderson? To wrap the day up, we hear the Final Word with Marc Bertrand.
