Jones received the honor for the first time in his career after registering 16 tackles and four sacks in three games. He sacked Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger twice in New England's 55-31 win in Week 9, and sacked Cam Newton and Peyton Manning once in Weeks 11 and 12, respectively.

Jones is now up to 10.5 sacks on the season, and his 16.5 sacks over his first two years in the NFL ranks him third in team history for most sacks by a player in their first two seasons.

Jones is the first Patriots player to be named AFC Defensive Player of the Month since safety Eugene Wilson won the award in September 2004.
