Mayor-Elect Walsh Lights Menorah In Downtown Crossing

BOSTON (CBS) – Mayor-elect Marty Walsh helped light a giant menorah in Downtown Crossing Wednesday night.

The Jewish Festival of Lights began at sundown and will last eight days.

This year, Thanksgiving occurs during the holiday, prompting some to call the day "Thanksgivukkah."

"It's a very exciting night to celebrate Hanukkah and Thanksgiving," Walsh said during the ceremony. "The next time this happens 77,000 years from now, I won't be the Mayor of Boston."
