Local Winter Markets To Buy Organic Food In Boston
Bostonians don't get to see a lot of green in the winter months, but that doesn't mean they should stop eating green, local, healthy foods. According to MassGrown, Massachusetts is home to about 42 farmers' markets that continue operating all year long. This is an essential part of creating a sustainable food system and supporting our local economy. The following winter farmers' markets are located in or very close to Boston.

Dorchester's winter market is one of the most popular "off-season" markets in the state. It is a sub-project of the Dorchester Community Food Co-op. The Co-op's mission is to build a healthy, sustainable and economically viable community, and there is no better way to promote healthy living than by making sure fresh, local produce is available even in the dead of winter.

Egleston Farmers Market partnered with Greenovate Boston to collect compost as part of its pilot campaign. Unfortunately, the pilot program is temporarily halted, but the market managers are hoping to reinstate compost collection again soon.
