LAWRENCE, Mass. (AP) — The Lawrence mayoral race recount has been scheduled for next weekend.

The city’s Board of Registrars announced that the recount will take place next Saturday in the auditorium at the South Lawrence East School.

The board last week certified the voter signatures gathered by Mayor William Lantigua’s campaign.

Lantigua lost the Nov. 5 election to City Councilor Daniel Rivera by 58 votes, with 15,210 ballots cast.

Meanwhile, the ballots remain sealed and under around-the-clock police guard.

Rivera has called on Lantigua to concede and is carrying on the transition process. Lantigua has questioned the integrity of the vote.
