Wednesday's Child: 13-Year-Old Chelsea

BOSTON (CBS) - Chelsea is a lovable, affectionate and energetic 13-year-old Caucasian teen who enjoys horseback riding, doing gymnastics, ballet and ice-skating. During quieter times, she likes playing board games, watching television, listening to music and reading.

Beyonce is her favorite artist, and Twilight and Vampire Diaries are her current favorite books. Chelsea is also learning how to cook and currently cooks once a week. She especially loves to eat pasta and garlic sauce.

In her own words, Chelsea is looking for "a family who will go swimming with me (I am a strong swimmer), take me shopping and pay attention to me. I especially want a family who makes dessert, but not a vegetarian family. I want a family who will let me stay connected to my mom and sisters."

Her social worker feels that Chelsea deserves a loving home with one or two parents who can offer her the love and nurturing she needs. She would benefit from being the youngest or only child in the home.

Chelsea has experienced trauma in her past and is learning new behaviors to replace learned norms from when she was living with her parents. She can be oppositional at times, but is improving in this area. Chelsea is legally free for adoption.

To learn more about Chelsea, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit www.MAREinc.org. The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have "a permanent place to call HOME."
