Hatfield Man Arrested After Armed Standoff With Police

HATFIELD (CBS) -- A local man was arrested Sunday after an armed standoff with officers, the state police said.

At about 5:20 p.m., troopers were dispatched to 8 Circle Drive to assist a Hatfield Police officer. When troopers arrived, they were told a Hatfield Police officer had gone to the residence after receiving a complaint about hearing gunfire from the home, the state police said in a prepared statement.

When the Hatfield officer arrived at the house, a man exited the home, later identified as Todd Dostal, 31, of Hatfield. Dostal allegedly pointed a rifle at the officer and told the officer to leave the property, the state police said. He then went back inside the residence.

Troopers set up a perimeter and requested the State Police Special Tactical and Operations unit and a K-9 unit. Dostal then exited the home unarmed and was taken into custody, the state police said.

Two pistols and three rifles were taken from the home.

State police said Dostal faces the following charges: assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, intimidation of a witness, improper storage of a firearm and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
