Toddler Dies After Being Struck By Rolling Car In Worcester

WORCESTER (CBS) – An 18-month-old boy has died after he was struck by a car in a Worcester driveway Friday afternoon.

Worcester Police say the car was parked at the top of a sloping driveway and as the boy's  mother was getting him out of the backseat, the vehicle began to roll backwards, knocking them to the ground with the open rear door.

The accident happened at a home near the intersection of Bjorklund Ave and Chester Street.

Police say that Bennett Roaf died of his injuries at the hospital Friday night.

The boy's 33-year-old mother was treated for a shoulder injury and has been released from the hospital.

Worcester police continue to investigate the accident.
