VERNON, Vt. (AP) — The Vermont Yankee nuclear power is testing its emergency sirens in three states within 10 miles of the Vernon plant.

The three-minute test is scheduled for noon on Saturday.

The pole-mounted sirens are located in the Vermont towns of Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford and Vernon.

In New Hampshire the sirens are in Chesterfield, Hinsdale, Richmond, Swanzey and Winchester.

In Massachusetts they are located in Gill, Colrain, Leyden, Bernardston and Northfield.

The test is being conducted by the Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts state public safety agencies to comply with regulations of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
