What's The Weather Forecast For Halloween, Friday, Parade Saturday?

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston is buzzing, just hours after our beloved Red Sox won their third championship in the last 10 years.

Who would have thought we would be planning yet another victory parade. The only thing missing from this incredible playoff run?  The weather! There were no major storms, no delays, no unbearable cold, hardly even a raindrop over Fenway Park, and now, as Red Sox Nation can finally rest and get some sleep, Mother Nature is about to wake up.

Check: Parade Route

In just the next 72 hours we've got a Trick or Treat forecast, our first significant storm in weeks, a victory parade forecast and a partial solar eclipse!

Let's track them one by one.

TRICK OR TREAT?

Unfortunately in some towns you may need to throw a rain coat over those costumes Thursday night.  There may be a lot of soggy Sox beards!  A large storm system is gathering strength to our west and an initial batch of rain is likely to arrive in areas north and west of Boston right around trick or treat time.

In general, the farther north and west you live from Boston the better chance you will be getting wet. The good news is that it will be fairly mild, 55-to-60 degrees as mild air begins streaming in along with a gusty southwest wind (15-to-30 mph).

STORMY FRIDAY

This will be our first significant storm in quite some time

First, we'll have some much needed rainfall for the entire area, an average of about half-an-inch to an inch, most falling during Friday morning.

The winds will be the real story with this storm though, gusting 25-to-50 mph or higher late Thursday night through Friday afternoon. There will be major leaf dropping and likely some scattered limbs down and power outages.

Seas will rise along the South Coast as high as 10-to-13 feet. There is already a High Wind Watch up for Boston and all of southeastern Massachusetts. Incredibly, we may even make a run at a record high temperature Friday.  The record of 77 degrees set back in 1974 is not out of reach, although we are forecasting highs closer to 70.

VICTORY PARADE

The Red Sox will be riding the Duck Boats through Boston on Saturday and it looks like a great day for a celebration!

The rain and wind will have cleared thecCoast but the mild air will stick around.  Skies should be partly sunny and it will feel spring-like with temperatures hovering near or slightly above 60 degrees!

SOLAR ECLIPSE - END OF DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME

And if all that wasn't enough, we have a fairly significant event going on in the sky early Sunday morning.

First of all, don't forget to turn your clocks back an hour, officially at 2 a.m. Sunday.  Sunrise Sunday is at 6:20 a.m. with sunset at 4:35 p.m.  Yikes!

If you are an early riser, (weather permitting) you will be treated to a partial solar eclipse Sunday right at sunrise. Just as the sun is coming up over the horizon in Boston about 54-percent of it will be covered by the Moon.  But don't blink, it will all be over in less than an hour. And by the way, at this point it looks like some rain and snow showers may be in the area Sunday morning, so stay tuned to forecasts, we may just miss out on this one.
