Is it a hat?
A T-shirt that has seen better days?
What about special meal or ritual on game day?
Superstition in sports is well-known and well chronicled.
For the 2013 Boston Red Sox, it’s the beard.
Men’s Fitness lists former Red Sox 3rd baseman Wade Boggs as one of its 10 most superstitious athletes.
In his heyday, Boggs’ game day rituals would include — eating chicken before games (no joke), taking batting practice at exactly 5:17 and running sprints at 7:17.
The Red Sox are one win away from clinching their first World Series title at Fenway Park in 95 years.
