Falmouth School Bus Accident Sends 10 Children To Hospital

FALMOUTH (CBS) -- Ten elementary school children were taken to the hospital after a school bus accident a block from school.

Falmouth Fire got the call shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The school bus driver told police that a white box truck drove into the lane of the school bus on Thomas Landers Road, causing the bus driver to swerve to avoid an accident.

The bus then left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Electrical wires fell onto the road.

Police tell WBZ-TV, the bus driver did a great job and kept the kids on the school bus until help arrived.

The children on the bus ranged from grade one-to-four, Falmouth Fire said.

Some minor injuries were reported. The bus driver refused medical attention.

A grief counselor was sent to the scene to help the kids.

The crash remains under investigation by the Falmouth Police Department.

Anyone with information regarding the unidentified white box truck and its operator are urged to contact the Falmouth Police Department at (508) 457-2527.
