Red Sox, Fans Celebrate Winning American League Pennant

BOSTON (CBS) -- In the first hour after the Red Sox won the 2013 American League Pennant, a relatively peaceful celebration raged inside and outside Fenway Park.

Inside the ballpark, Red Sox players and front office officials including owner John Henry took turns holding the AL championship trophy as they gave multiple interviews with members of the media.

On the streets outside Fenway Park, jubilant Red Sox fans celebrated their team's third trip to the World Series in the past decade. There were no reports of violence or arrests.

In an interview with WBZ-TV after the game, Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia said Saturday night's victory over the Tigers was a tremendous accomplishment for the team, which has bounced back from last year's season of frustration to advance to the World Series. "We play the game one way," the infielder said of his teammates. "We play hard and we play to win."
