Alleged Carjacker Leads Police On High-Speed Chase
FITCHBURG (CBS) -- Multiple police departments joined in a chase for a carjacker early Sunday morning.
FItchburg Police reported the carjacking by an armed person Sunday morning.
The vehicle was later spotted on Route 2, traveling westbound in Westminster.
In Orange, the car turned around and started eastbound.
State Police lost sight of the vehicle but it was later seen back in Westminster and another chase began. The vehicle was lost again, police say.
The State Police Air Wing and K-9 were called in to help in the search.
State Police say the car was later spotted on Route 2 in Gardner.
There, the car was eventually stopped and the driver taken into custody.
State Police turned the man over to Fitchburg Police for the armed carjacking.
State Police will charge the suspect with multiple motor vehicle offenses.
The suspect's name has not yet been released.
